Alison Johnstone GLCM FLCM LLCM (TD)

Cello


Alison Johnstone was born in Reading, England and came to Bermuda to teach the cello for the Menuhin Foundation. Alison was the teacher in charge of the Menuhin Foundation for seven years, during which time she organized string workshops with the English Chamber Orchestra and the Royal College of Music Chamber Orchestra.

In Bermuda Alison has appeared as soloist with the Bermuda Philharmonic Orchestra performing the Elgar and Saint-Saens Cello Concertos. She performed the solo cello part in Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro for Strings conducted by Lord Menuhin in the 1995 Bermuda International Festival. Alison also performed with Menuhin Foundation colleagues and pianist Mandy Wong in the 2005 Bermuda Festival.

Alison has had the pleasure of playing in the string section for visiting artists, such as Josh Groban, James Galway and Smokey Robinson and has performed in the orchestra for numerous local shows.
